The Difference Between Bone China, New Bone China, Fine China And Porcelain

New Bone China

Porcelain appeared around 620 AD. More modern methods and mixtures began to be used around 1279 A.D. The earliest porcelain originated in China, using kaolin (a type of clay) and pegmatite (a type of granite). Early European versions used clay and wool glass. in 1707, German manufacturers began using feldspar instead of glass, a process that continues to this day. In dinnerware, the use of fine bone china has been a symbol of quality and prestige since its development in the early 1700s. In today's porcelain, silica is also added to the raw material. The raw material is finely ground, cleaned, shaped in a mold, and then fired.

The firing process is what makes porcelain, or fine china, what it is. If the temperature is high - about 1455 degrees Celsius (2650 degrees Fahrenheit) - the finished product will be more durable and is called porcelain. If it is fired at a lower temperature - about 1,200° (2,200° F) - it is called fine porcelain. Fine china is much softer than porcelain and is therefore better suited for applications such as plates and cups. Porcelain is strong and durable enough for a wide range of industrial applications, such as electrical insulators.

New Bone China

What is bone china?

Bone china undergoes two firing processes. The first causes the product to shrink and about 20 percent of the parts will crack at this stage. The second firing occurs after the piece is glazed and melts the glaze into the work. Those that do not crack or break at this stage are then decorated with their final pattern. Many pieces are hand painted or sprayed, but in some cases decals can be applied.

Bone china, as the name implies, is made from cow bone. The bones are finely ground into ashes and then mixed with feldspar, ball clay, quartz and kaolin (a type of clay). The quality of the finished product depends on the amount of bone in the mixture; a high-quality bone china should contain at least 30 percent bone and up to 40-45 percent.

What is the new bone china?

New bone china is actually a white porcelain with mineralizers and calcium oxide (elements similar to bone ash) added to the raw material, which differs from traditional porcelain in terms of firing temperature and deformability. The new bone china is a type of porcelain that is similar in appearance to bone china, in terms of absorption and transparency. Click here to view the section of our website that offers them or our product line.

New Bone China

The difference between bone china and new bone china

First of all, the new bone china is not bone china.

It is a concept designed to gain more attention and a marketing strategy to sell porcelain at a higher price. In fact, it is just a type of porcelain, but with some characteristics similar to bone china.

The difference between new bone china and traditional bone china is the addition of calcium oxide instead of bone ash, which is what makes it "premium bone china". Although not as light or translucent as fine bone china, the calcium oxide in new bone china makes it whiter, finer and more durable than standard porcelain/fine china.

Bone china, fine china, porcelain: they look very similar, but there are distinct differences in the materials used to make them. Bone china, as the name implies, is made from bone - especially cow bone. The same manufacturing process is used to make fine porcelain, but without the bone component. Porcelain is made in much the same way, but it is fired at much higher temperatures and the end result is much more difficult.

If you know what you are looking for, you can easily tell the difference between bone china and fine porcelain at a glance. The addition of bone ash gives bone china a warm tone, while fine porcelain has a brighter white color. If you place the porcelain in the light, you will notice that bone china has a translucent quality compared to fine porcelain. Porcelain is a much more durable material and is much harder than any kind of porcelain.
